The Ballyshaners in Alexandria wait all year long to celebrate the heritage they promote and preserve on Saint Patrick’s Day, so they are prepared to throw an excellent parade on March 7. The 2020 Ballyshaners St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Alexandria is kicking off early at 10:30 a.m. with a dog show! Costumed dogs will be gathering to impress viewers with their costumes, tricks, and other features. Following the dog show, the canines kick off the parade followed by more than 2,000 participants. Participants include but are not limited to the Notre Dame Alumni Band, dog rescue groups, Irish dancers, pipe and drum band and historical re-enactors.
The event is rain or shine and trailing down King Street in Old Town Alexandria. This parade is a long running tradition in Alexandria, with this year marking its 39th anniversary! Visit the website for information and photos from prior parades.
