In recent years, Alexandria has become one of the nation’s top artistic destinations, and the Alexandria King Street Art Festival is built on that fact. Each year, 40,000 people attend this unique outdoor celebration dedicated to showcasing the work of groundbreaking artists in all mediums. This year’s Art Festival is scheduled for the weekend of September 21-22. Booths and vendors are open from 10 am to 5 pm each day, featuring artwork for sale, juried competitions, family-friendly arts and crafts projects, and lots of tasty food and drink. This year, festival organizers are planning to have more than $15 million dollars’ worth of art on display, so you won’t want to miss a thing.
Past festival-goers recommend that you start at one end of King Street and take several hours to wend your way through the festival, which is stretched out along multiple blocks.
