At the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31, all eyes will turn upward as the sky over the Potomac River is set ablaze in a dazzling display of pyrotechnics. We're talking, of course, about the fireworks show to take place during this year's First Night Alexandria, a family-friendly "celebration of the New Year through the performing arts" that takes place at multiple venues in Old Town Alexandria.
There will be much more in store than just fireworks, though. The day-long event starts promptly at 2 p.m. with a kid-friendly scavenger hunt around Old Town. Other activities for the little ones include face painting, carnival games, and moon bounces, while adults can enjoy live musical and comedic performances, dancing, and plenty of delicious food and drinks provided by Old Town eateries!
Admission badges to First Night Alexandria cost $30 and can be purchased online. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. See you there, The Frasier!
